Expert Tips

The dirty secret to mushrooms is all about cleaning them. There is some controversy about whether you can wash mushrooms, but the truth is fresh mushrooms are already very watery and not likely to take on a ton of extra water. Plus, washing is a significantly quicker way to clean the mushrooms versus dry brushing.

Don’t let lactose sensitivity stop you from making these yummy mushrooms! Simply trade the heavy cream for soy-based heavy cream to make a lactose-free version of this recipe.

If you’re all out of almond flour, or cooking in a nut-free kitchen, don’t sweat it! You can trade the almond flour for another low-carb flour. Keto All-purpose flour or coconut flour both work great as replacements for almond flour.

Crushed pork rinds are an awesome low-carb ingredient to keep on hand. You can crush a whole bag in the food processor so you’ll always have some ready. Store any excess in a sealed container in the pantry for up to 1 month.

Always be sure to clean the air fryer well. Not only does food residue build up in the air fryer and contribute to its wear and tear, but it can also lead to unwanted flavors in your food. If you want to save a little effort in the cleanup, consider lining the airy fryer basket with parchment paper or a liner.
